Need help installing video card?

i bought a used ATI Radeon 9250 256mb AGP i don't have the cd

when i plug it in the pc acts as if there is no video card installed

i went to amd.com and downloaded the drivers

but when i did that it says

Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software.|||Well - that is the correct driver.

The message you are getting is (i guess) because you are trying to install the drivers when your matrox card is installed. It is basically saying "Can't install that because you do not have a Radeon 9250 in your PC right now"

What you should do is:

Go to add/remove programs in the control panel.

Remove the Matrox Driver package.

Switch off the PC

Insert the Radeon.

Switch the PC on.

The PC will start in VGA mode (because you have removed the Matrox Drivers).

You can then run the Radeon installer software and restart the PC.

Should then work.

If it does not work - and won't boot into safe mode or show any display at all - then it is a broken card.|||It's probable that your used video card doesn't work. It should at least boot to windows with it installed.|||Maybe, you downloaded the wrong drivers?
