i feel like i should be able to max out any game out there, but i still get choppy in some areas of Everquest 2. i intentionally built a beast so i could handle mmorpg with no problems, but i still have to dummy-down my settings to avoid lag.....here are my components:
Ultra LSP550 550-Watt Power Supply
AMD Phenom 9500 Processor HD9500WCGDBOX - 2.20GHz, 4 x 512KB Cache, 1800MHz (3600 MT/s) FSB, Agena, Quad-Core, Retail, Socket AM2+, Processor with Fan
Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (4 x 2048MB) 8 gigs total
Asus M2N-SLI Motherboard - NVIDIA nForce 560 SLI, Socket AM2/AM2+, ATX, Audio, PCI Express, Gigabit LAN, S/PDIF, USB 2.0, Firewire, Serial ATA, RAID
Sparkle GeForce 9600 GT Video Card - 1024MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, (2) Dual Link DVI, HDTV, VGA Support
someone help me tweak this thing, or do i need a better video card?|||A GTX 260 is a great budget"ish" upgrade to your 9600GT if you want to stay nVidia. Over on the ATI side, a 4870/90 is a good bet.
It'll max out most games with 2xAA. Same over in the ATI camp/ Just see which cards are cheaper.
And before you buy...have you tried download the latest drivers? Made sure the card is clean? and have you tried OC'ing it?
