I just bought the Age of Conan game and love it. It just seems my video card maybe even sound card is out of date (even though it runs smooth on EQ2). I have an nvidia 7800GTX now. 512MB mem, Its a pci express, 256 bit , ect ect. Heres a link from nvidia http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_7800.…
So I'm looking at the 8800 or maybe just go all the way up to a 9800.. But how do I know if its going to fit in my motherboard or not given the specs with the 7800? Any advice on the Sound blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer model soundcard? How do I know what soundcard will fit? I need to be extra careful with these parts I've accidentally bought the wrong kind of memory on ebay before and was out $50 and since these two components are a lot more expensive I really want to be sure.|||Get a 8800gts 512mb version, thats what i have for age of conan and with max settings it will run between 30 and 40 fps.
It will work on your computer because it uses same slot as the card you have now. Might want to check how big your power supply is, you need atleast 450 watt total power supply to run one or almost any new card out there. You can find out how bug yours is by opening up your computer and it should say it somewhere on the out side of the power supply.
If you think that your power supply is too small just go by a new one you can get a thermaltake 500 watt for $40 and it is a decent brand that's reliable.|||If the video card is PCIe, it should fit in your motherboard, as long as your case is at least a mid size tower. For the Sound Card, it won't improve performance, but it will improve audio quality, if you have an empty PCI slot, it should work.|||Hii, i just wanted to say how old is your computer if its a few years old it will run the new graphix cards, and also that if your graphics card is 512MB Video ram thats plenty to get it running, but as this card is a 2 year old card it may not be compatible with these new games, if i were you i would, look at the 8800GT 512MB its very good and isnt expensive as the 9800GTX, which costs around $500, i'de even go for the 8800GT 1GB, which is excelent,
Hope i helped and about the sound, it should work, i dont know y?|||well if ur current video card is pcie, then just make sure that the new card ur thinking about getting is also pcie, there r different types of video cards, there is pci, pcie and agp, as long as u get the pcie, u should have no problem with it not fitting, as for the sound card, it wont improve game quality, it will just help the game sound out a little bit.....i hope this helps good luck
