Phenom II CPU and a medium video card or Athlon II CPU and a high-end video card?

I've been figuring out what processor and video card to get for my new Gaming Rig with my budget limit.

My budget is only limited to either one of the 2 choices:

a.) - Athlon II x4 640 @ 3.0GHZ

- Nvidia GTX 460

b.) - Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition @ 3.4GHZ

- Nvidia GTS 450

Other Parts/components that i have chosen are:

- 2GB DDR3 1333 Memory

- 1TB Hard Drive SATA2

- 19 inch LED LCD Monitor

- CPU fan upgraded to Platinum Fin Extreme Cooling Fan

- 700w PSU

- Foxconn A76GMV 760G AMD ( AM3/DDR3 ) Motherboard

please recommend other things for my new first build computer...

i will try medium overclocking for the first time

and will play games like:

Crysis 2

GTA IV

NFS Shift

Just Cause 2

thank you very much...

sorry for my poor english...|||A. An Athlon X4 is good good enough for gaming. Games these days need more GPU power than CPU. GTX 460 is much more powerful than a 450.

Go with 4GB of RAM.

I think a 700 watt PSU would be overkill.|||The choice with a better graphics card will run faster with games. Games are more dependent on the video card. You want as good as a video card you can get without the CPU bottlenecking the system.

I agree with the 700w psu being overkill. a decent 500w is plenty and will be better than a crappy 700w. Also think about getting 4GB of RAM. 2GB is too little. It would be a shame to build your system only to have the RAM slow it down when it's the cheapest component.
