had some issues with pc locking up while gaming, now pc will not boot up, black screen.
I noticed after several tries of plugging & unplugging different components, (video card, drives, ram) that the fan on my Nvidia Geforce 6600 is not running. Now keep in mind the pc is powered but will not boot up (black screen). Should the fan on the video card run on power up?|||yes is should you probably need to clean it. un screws it from the card and put it in some alcohol and get it spinning freely again. if it spinning freely and just not spinning then it may be dead and will cause your GPU to overheat.. find a replacment fan for it before it cause damage to your GPU if it already hasnt|||thats ok its supposed to do that (so that it is quiet)
the fan is only there to keep the nvidia 6600 cool
if youre using it over 50%
otherwise it wont generate any heat so there is no reason for it to be on
the problem with your computer is that your pci express (agp maybe) slot is fried so you need a new motherboard unless you want to stop playing games and just use the onboard
